![]() ![]() This was a type of "game" people were engaging with by even picking up the Masterpieces to begin with. Collecting is a game in and of itself for some people, and this is independent of the qualities of cards as game pieces or reprints. They could easily have reprinted these cards in a manner that didn't dilute a very special collector's card frame treatment. ![]() This doesn't run afoul of typical concerns about accessibility, as we're very, very specifically talking about card treatments 100% meant for die-hard collectors. If you're were collecting OG Masterpieces, they feel less special when you can get "new" Masterpieces in extremely available manners, given that the "meta game" for collectors is often the challenge of collecting itself, and the slow accumulation of such. This isn't just a raw concern about value, it's more the way that nothing is really held "sacred", which doesn't give collectors much firm footing to stand on, and a way to engage with the game/product in a manner that's fulfilling for collectors, let alone consistent (Ragavan isn't even a god damn artifact, ffs, something sure to irk a whole lot of people). If they don't reprint your Mana Crypts and Sol Rings and whatnot, why would they lose value?
